Global Impact for Sustainable Development (GISD) is a community-based development organization dedicated to promoting sustainable and inclusive development. We work with governments, civil society, research institutions, and communities to design and implement innovative solutions that address local and global development challenges. Our work bridges policy, research, and community action to create lasting impact. GISD operates in Ghana and the Netherlands, fostering international collaboration to support sustainable development initiatives.
Our inspiration and mission
Global Impact for Sustainable Development (GISD) was inspired by the critical need for integrated, community-driven solutions to complex development challenges. We hope to create a world where communities are empowered to achieve sustainable and inclusive development, aligning local action with global goals. Our commitment is to foster lasting positive change through collaborative and evidence-based approaches.
Our focus areas and programs

Community Development: We empower communities to identify priorities and implement locally driven solutions that improve livelihoods and well-being.

While many organizations focus only on project implementation, GISD bridges the gap between local community needs, evidence-based research, and development policy, ensuring that solutions are both practical and sustainable.
Our key strength lies in operating at both community and institutional levels. We work directly with communities while also supporting local governments and institutions in development planning, monitoring, and policy implementation. This dual approach ensures initiatives align with national priorities and the SDGs. GISD also brings a unique Ghana–Netherlands collaboration model, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, research partnerships, and inter-cultural understanding.
